Hi,
Thanks for the wonderful pages!!
I'll tell you how I got there:
I am listening to "Music from the Pleiades" by Gerald Jay Markoe, an
extraordinary work of sacred space music inspired by the Pleiades, and on the back he
mentions the Torajas, who believe their ancestors came from there. So I did a web search,
and thanks to your effort, I learned a little more about them. Thank you.
Take care,
Todd

Subject: Indonesian Music
Hi,
My name is Pat Pattillo. I visited Indonesia last September for a month, primarily in Bali and Java. I went for the purpose of surfing but found much, much more including the beautiful land, culture, music, and art. As a hobby I am a photographer and I returned with hundreds of pictures.
I am also interested in computers, particularly multimedia presentation development. With the computer skills, the photographs, and the recent Indonesia adventure fresh in my mind, I decided to produce a CD ROM multimedia presentation about the trip. Many surfers read about Indonesia and only dream of going there. Since there is often uncertainty in a persons mind when they consider visiting a foreign land with which they are unfamiliar I thought that many people would enjoy this sort of th ing.
There is also the chance that some young surfers might go to Bali and Java only to surf. I found that there was so much more to enjoy than the waves (particularly the people and the culture) that I thought that many people could benefit and have a more enjoyable time if they knew about more of the beautiful things about Indonesia other than surfing.
Surfers would also benefit by understanding more about the culture. People of different cultures express themselves differently. If one understands a bit more about the culture they will be visiting they will be less likely to unintentionally behave in a way which might offend someone else.
Though I have many photographs, I do not yet have any Indonesian music (perhaps gamelan) which I may package together with the pictures. I did purchase some audio CDs of more contemporary Javanese music while in Indonesia (Sunda Africa and one other) but without permission from either the musician or publisher I may not include such music on my CD.
I am looking for an artist or publisher who could give me permission to include some of their music on my CD. I would be happy to include a picture and information about the artist along with the music. Perhaps I could find some musician who might want to gain more exposure for their work and have the opportunity to introduce Indonesian to an audience who is unfamiliar with it.
Do you know of any person who might be interested in doing this? Would you be able to put me in touch with someone?
I would be happy to provide the finished CD free of charge to any contributors!
Thank you for reading this, and hopefully there will be someone who will be interested in this.
Sincerely,
Pat Pattillo

by Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) on the island of Kalimantan.

Hi Liono,
I'm really impressed with your web site. I live in Madrid (Spain) and I'm planning a 15 days journey in North Sumatra. I've find very interesting information in your site, and I'll visit most of the sites you explain about.
Could you tell me what you think about my plan:
Five days centered in Medan, hiring a car to visit Bohorok, the crocodile farm, the Great
Bukit Barisan Forest Park, the town of Berastagi and the village of Lingga. Take the plane
to spend two days visiting Nias Islands.
Then from Medan, going down to Lake Toba, visiting on the way the Sipiso-piso Waterfall and Tongging. Spending two or three nights at Parapat.
Spend the last days of the trip at Pandan Beach.
Finally, could you tell me how are the roads over there. Do i have to hire a car or a Land Rover?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I'd like to start by paying you my compliments on your Indonesia Homepage: very informative and neat.
I've been to your country two times already and I just bought a ticket to Jakarta again. My mouth already waters at the thought of the delicious food your country has to offer, although of course here in The Hague, with so large a population that originated from Indonesia, we have many splendid warungs ourselves.
What we don't have is the fruit juices I tasted all over Indonesia and no matter how hard I tried at home, I never got even close to making a fair fruit juice myself. I'm sure you know how to make one and I wonder if you'd be kind enough to let me have the recipe ?

Subject: Recent Visit
Greetings...
We just made a visit to Java and Bali and we did go to Jogakarta and then made special visits to Borabadure and Prambanan temples. They are so remarkable...so spectacular...truly high on the list of wonders of this or any other world!
I have several questions...If you would be so kind as to respond. First, in all the tourist information it is said that the temples of Prambanan where built before Borabadure, but Western publications all say the opposite...how do you explain this?
I would very much like to have the information on the bungalos that are available to stay in at the base of Borabadure. Do you have an address or any other way to contact them...is this run by the government? Please send all information.
We have one very important last question. Why does the government of Indonesia allow the great temples to be over run with pick pockets and thieves? We were really shocked. We felt very insecure and so sad that such sacred places could be treated with such disrespect. Travelers from all over the world will be seeing the hospitality that your country has to offer and this is a very important place to see that your best resources are put in place. Let me know your thoughts on this subject.
Thank you for your great Web site...Best, SS

Liono,
You have a very informative page about Indonesia. I have visited other Internet sites for information, and find this to be the best. I believe you said the rainy season is from November to April. I may be in Bali, or nearby, sometime toward the end of February, 1996. Would you please tell me just how much rain I might expect during that time? My going will depend on whether my daughter, now in Taiwan, will be able to get plane tickets to Indonesia on about February 17. The Chinese New Year beginson the 18 or 19 of February.
Thank you.
